These workshops for Maths and EFAL are phase related; some might foreground one grade over others. Grade 7, usually in the primary school, is included with the Intermediate Phase. The workshops encourage participant activity and interaction.

Each workshop focusses on one or more topics. Some relate to the content of a particular term; others to general or recurring aspects of teaching the subject. To find the workshops of interest to you, START with the overview document.

DOWNLOAD THE OVERVIEW and refer to it to see what topics are dealt with in each workshop (note that the same topic is often covered in more than one workshop) and which documents form part of the workshop pack for each workshop (such as Facilitator’s guide/Participants’ handout).

There is facilitator’s guide for each workshop. It usually provides:

Workshop programme
Detailed activities
Guidelines for facilitating and managing activities,
Suggested answers/solutions to questions
Background information and input for participants
A list of resources needed (also sometimes text-based resources)

There is a participants’ handout for each workshop. This usually provides following as appropriate:

The programme
Details of each activity
Necessary background information
Text-based resources (if not in a separate handout)

> Resource Handouts

The workshops are interactive and have a strong practical component. They thus rely on resources – such as physical objects, videos, printed materials. In most workshops, the print materials are provided in the participants’ and facilitators handouts, but in some they are packaged in a separate handout.
